Office Chair Review: Big and Tall Office Chairs | the Shadow Air Grid

In Big and Tall Chairs Reviews, big and tall office chair, big and tall office chairs, Shadow Air Guard on May 12, 2009 at 7:14 pm

Three Sweet Features:

1. Modern Shadow Air Grid color.

2. Sturdy over-sized base and components.

3. Cool mesh back and mesh covered foam seat.

The Thorough Review:

With technical specs boasting pneumatic seat height adjustments, a three hundred and sixty degree swivel, a mid-pivot knee tilt, and a weight rating to reach up to four hundred pounds, it’s no wonder the Office Mesh Chair is one of the most extremely popular big and tall office chairs on the market today.

The search for thickly padded mesh seats, double Air Grid backs with adjustable tilt tensions have been three of the top standard requirements met by the Office Star Products manufacturing company. But, they don’t stop there, this chair rocks with its modern mesh back look, rugged appearance, and the one touch seat height adjustment this big and tall office chair couldn’t be more welcomed by the big and tall community.

Covering this chair from top to bottom with terrific amenities was clearly the goal for the design team on this great piece of art. In order to support up to four hundred pounds, the manufacturer added a sturdy gunmetal finish aluminum base and oversized dual wheel carpet casters.

The only thing more amazing than the chair and its benefits is the price! Check it out!

The Ratings:

Durability:
Oversize base, thick, high density seat, lager reinforced mechanism. Holds up to 450 lbs.

Style:
It looks good. Unique mesh stands out from drab black color.

Plushness:
It’s a firm sit. The foam is high density and the mesh is not too bouncy. Good for long term durability though.

Overall Rating (Not an average):
We’re talking about a great value chair for what it is and what it needs to be. Modern, stylish and durable – made to last.

Office Chair Review: Mayline 6446AGL

In 1 on May 8, 2009 at 7:34 pm

Mayline 6446AGLThree Sweet Features:

1. A big chair fold away arms for easy entry.

2. High quality leather that is soft and durable.

3. Steel reinforced components.

The Thorough Review:

The Mayline 6446AGL is our most popular Big and Tall Office chair for a) Big and Tall users, and b) Dispatch centers. It is very popular for the former because of the size of the chair – it is big and capable. The seat is wide and thick, using a high density foam that ensures the foam will withstand longer use by anyone. The back is tall too, which provides a a chair that can be used by a wider range of people.

The components that make up this chair are high quality and durable – for example, the chair has a steel reinforced plate on the bottom for support and longevity, and the chair comes with an oversize metal base as well. The foam is what we call High Density Foam – thicker and more durable than standard foam.

There are a few critical features that make this chair very nice – aside from the component makeup and durability. One is the pivot arm feature. The arms are capped in leather, and pivot upward out of the way for two reasons: 1. More space means more comfort and 2. It makes it easy to get in and out of the chair. The arms, although they pivot and are connected by a single point to the back of the chair, are durable and sturdy enough to put weight and support on, too. Another great feature of this chair is the inflatable lumbar support. While a very underrated feature, inflatable lumbar means the user can adjust the lower back pressure to exactly where they feel comfortable. It’s a very specific means of lumbar support.

Overall, a great chair. It’s really worth the additional dollars – instead of buying multiple chairs that keep breaking and aren’t comfortable for around $125 dollars, it’s a wise choice to invest in the durable and comfortable Mayline 6446AGL Big and Tall Office Chair.

The Ratings:

Durability: Very, very durable. Steel reinforced plating means weight rating of up to 450 lbs.

Adjust-ability: It features two things that set it apart from other chairs – inflatable air lumbar and pivot arms that fold up.

Plushness:

It’s plush, and the top-grain leather is soft. However, it is not a “super soft sink into” type chair, since it is built more for long term comfort and durability.

Overall Rating (Not an average):

It’s one of SitBetter’s more popular chairs for a reason. Big, durable, comfortable – worth the price.

Big and Tall Chairs | Finding the Right Fit

In 1 on May 6, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Being of a smaller stature, I’d never really thought too long and too hard about what it was like for people of larger stature. Of course that’s not to say I am closed minded. I’m just saying that sometimes the thought of walking in others’ shoes can be an elusive concept, let alone considering what it is like for a larger person to find big and tall chairs for the office.
As a matter of fact, I think if you’ve been reading my blog, I sometimes forgot what it was like to find an office chair that was the right fit for me. In the distant past, I struggled with an elbow problem, and in the not too distant past, pain in my shoulder. Needless to say, I blame it all on my office and home office chairs. I just didn’t understand.
          Now, I totally get it.
So, although the majority of the population of men and women are somewhere between 4’5” and 6’0” and weigh between 100 -200 lbs, sometimes the larger side of the populace is overlooked. Not so anymore. I’ve been in offices from one end of the continent to the other and have seen firsthand someone 6’6” and 250-275lbs trying to fit into a regular sized chair. They scrunch their shoulders, knees up above their waist line, and their oblique muscles pressed firmly against the arm rest. Needless to say they didn’t look comfortable at all.
Now-a-days there are big and tall chairs for the office, which are stylish, comfortable, reliable, and most importantly adjustable. They’re ergonomically correct for the taller, stouter body type, with reinforced support systems that can sustain up to 500 lbs, depending on the chosen model.
A good office chair reduces the stress on thighs, elbows, back, neck, wrists, and a number of other related areas. So, although these big and tall chairs have higher backs and wider seats, they operate just like any other office chair.
As with any office chair purchase, it is important to shop around and find a reputable dealer who really knows what big and tall chairs should do for the person sitting in it.

Office Chair Review: B990-CP Big and Tall

In Big and Tall Chairs Reviews on April 13, 2009 at 9:27 pm
B990-CP

B990-CP

Three Sweet Features:

1. Solid wrap around metal frame.

2. Black Caressoft faux leather and black frame.

3. A great price point. Good value oriented Big and Tall Chair.

The Thorough Review:

The B990 and the B990-CP by Boss Office Chairs are a great value for a Big and Tall office chair.

The aren’t the flashiest, but the foam is thick and padded, so you know the chair will last a while. These Bariatric Office Chairs are rated to hold people up to 350 lbs., and is constructed as such. Aside from the aforementioned thick padded seat and back, the chair features a metal frame with a metal support bar on the back to give the chair added stability. The seat and the back are generously sized, with the width of the chair at 24″ and a depth of 21″. The arms are padded as well, for added comfort during long hours of use. Additionally, the base is 27″ in diameter. Compare that to the standard 25″ of most normal bases, and you begin to understand why we keep saying this chair is well built!

In our opinion, the B990-CP Caressoft Plus is the nicer of the two models, with a black frame to match the black caressoft (caressoft is a faux leather vinyl combination). The B990 is black microfiber with a silver frame. Overall, this chair is a great value for an oversize, big and tall office chair. At the price point it is offered at, combined with the heavy duty components and the metal frame, you can’t go wrong with this Big and Tall office chair.

The Ratings:

Durability:
With a solid wrap around metal frame and oversize metal base, it will last the test of time. Maximum 350 lbs though which is on the low end of Big and Tall Chairs.

Adjust-ability:

It has a basic mechanism. Tilt lock, height adjustment. Not fancy or ergonomic, but effective.

Style:
It’s a good looking chair in Caressoft. The black frame and base look nice, and it won’t stick out like a sore thumb. Sleek, clean style.

Overall Rating (Not an average):
It is a great VALUE oriented big and tall chair…Not overly comfortable, but it is supportive with a wide back and thick seat. A good quality, less expensive option for Big and Tall users.
